Eros Terracotta Figurine - Terracotta Replica of Freud's Figurine by Martha Todd
¥614.00
Exclusive to the Freud Museum, a unique replica of the Terracotta figurine from Sigmund Freud's collection.
Freud had many different representations of Eros in his collection, including this Hellenistic Eros from Myrina (terracotta, 150-100 BC). Whilst Freud describes Eros as a primal force, driving us to preserve life and create ever greater unities in its ‘eternal struggle’ with the death drive, this Eros represents a playful, more domesticated expression of desire.
Eros is made of press moulded terracotta from the original sculpture and is decorated with a white underglaze finish. It is mounted on a plaster base with a chrome metal fixing.
Each sculpture has its own character as they are all individually hand finished.
