Female Figurine in Tang Dynasty Style - Teracotta Replica of Freud's Ceramic Figurine by Sun Ae Kim
¥457.00
Exclusive to the Freud Museum, a unique replica of the teracotta figurine that sits on Sigmund Freud's desk.
In June 1938, Freud and his family fled Nazi occupied Vienna, and made for London. During the journey they stayed briefly in Paris where his friend and colleague Marie Bonaparte gave him a number of small female figures, including the Woman in Tang dynasty style.
Freud was uncertain about whether his collection would be allowed to leave Vienna, and the gift of these figures was an attempt to help console him over the traumatic circumstances surrounding his departure.
One of the last pieces he acquired, the Woman in Tang dynasty style stands proudly on Freud’s desk.
All busts are individually made and will vary slightly.
