Aerial View of Freud's Desk (print)
£0.00
Rows of antiquities crowd Freud's desk, an audience that hardly seems to leave a space for the writing.
Useful bric-a-brac, jade bowls and ashtrays, cigar box, inkstand and penholder, occupy the rest of the free surface, so that there is only just room for the large A3 sheets of unlined paper on which Freud wrote.
It is as if the atmosphere of his Vienna home were concentrated here on the desk, and this plenitude of artefacts and cultural references crowding him in were a necessary source of inspiration.
